Combined Mission


Peedh Parai International Mission Nagpur March 2015

Objective: To bring together medical professionals of various specialities from various countries together in order to provide high quality surgical treatment to the needy children from the underserved areas of Nagpur & Chandrapur Districts of Maharashtra, India and even from other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

With the combined effort of the Peedh Parai International, Houston, Texas , USA, Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Balmitra foundation, and GSB sabha, Nagpur, India we performed surgeries on 160 children with complex congenital anomalies.

Balmitra Foundation, Nagpur, India arranged for requisite permissions from the District Civil Surgeon to conduct screening camps at the rural hospitals spread across the district and put together a shortlist of patients requiring pediatric surgical treatment. These screening camps are conducted in active collaboration with the local staff at the rural hospital. All this work & planning of the mission began almost 1 year prior to start date of the mission.

The data of screened and shortlisted patients is entered into an excel spreadsheet with detailed information on each patient – age, sex, diagnosis, potential surgical plan, investigations required, special remarks, etc.

GSB Sabha graciously offered to raise funds for medicines & provide catering and other logistical requirements.

Lata Mangeskar Hospital came on board as hospital partners providing their hospital infrastructure and staff support without any charge for the mission.

Parai Parai International (PPI) provided support and participation in the mission. PPI based on the requirement gathered expert surgeons, nurses, child care specialist from Texas children’s hospital, Houston, Texas, USA and brought them to Nagpur. They spared time from their busy schedule and funded their own trips to participate in this noble cause.

Mission was conducted over 7 days with excellent coordination between the local and the visiting team.

A farewell dinner for the entire mission team marked the end of the mission. The visiting medical team and the local team had opportunities to gel with the local culture and mingle. Both the teams parted with fond memories of the mission in Nagpur and with vows to return back soon for another mission!

Arpan global is a charity run by Dr Sudeep Kukreja form Childrens’s hospital of orange County, California, USA. Dr Kukreja graciously provided his support and participation in the mission. Peedh Parai international based on the requirement gathered expert surgeons, nurses, child care specialist from CHOC and Texas children’s hospital and brought them to Nagpur. They spared time from their busy schedule and funded their own trips to participate in this noble cause.
